DEVELOPING POSITIVE ENERGY HABITS = BEING THE BEST VERSION OF YOU

WANT TO DEVELOP THOSE POSITIVE ENERGY HABITS? Read on …..

First of all, what is ‘energy’ and ‘energy medicine’?

Unless you are Donna Eden, energy flows and pathways in and around the body will be ‘invisible’ to you. However, so is the wind, electricity and our ever present internet connections ….. does that mean they don’t exist – no!

Energy medicine is rooted in ancient healing traditions. Cultures worldwide have recognized and worked with the body's energy systems for thousands of years. For example:

  1. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM): TCM views health as a harmonious flow of "Qi" (life force/energy) through pathways known as meridians. Acupuncture and qigong are examples of TCM practices aimed at balancing Qi. The Eden Method also honours the Oriental schools of wisdom.

  2. Ayurveda: Originating in India over 5,000 years ago, Ayurveda identifies energy centres called "chakras" and emphasizes balancing these spinning 'wheels' of energy.

  3. 'Shamanic' Practices: Indigenous cultures across the Americas, Africa, and Asia have long utilized energy-based rituals and techniques to heal and clear energetic blockages.

  4. Reiki: A Japanese technique developed in the early 20th century, Reiki channels universal energy through the practitioner’s hands to facilitate healing.

T4H, The Eden Method and other contemporary schools are developing these ancient wisdoms, adapting and making them easily accessible for everyday use.

Today, Science is confirming and even recording the body’s energies – we knew it already but it’s great to have that confirmation and every year there seems to be more positive research emerging. For example:

1.    Studies have identified measurable electromagnetic fields surrounding the human body. Techniques like electroencephalography (EEG) and heart rate variability (HRV) demonstrate how these fields respond to emotions, thoughts, and interventions like meditation.

Kirlian photography can capture the biofield around humans, animals and plants. It is a technique that captures the energy field/biofield/ "aura," through high-voltage, high-frequency photography.

Developed by Semyon Kirlian in 1939, the process involves placing an object or body part, such as a fingertip, on a photographic plate connected to a high-voltage source. The resulting image reveals glowing outlines or colorful emissions surrounding the subject, which some believe to represent an energy field or life force.

2.    Research using functional MRI has shown how acupuncture points correlate with changes in brain activity, supporting its effectiveness for pain relief and stress reduction.

There has also been evidence that the skin corresponding to acupuncture points displays less electrical resistance, contributing to the feeling on some 'master' points of the fingers 'sinking' into the area.

3.    Clinical trials indicate that energy medicine practices can reduce anxiety, improve immune function, and accelerate wound healing. Studies show that sound frequencies can influence brainwave states, reduce stress, and improve cognitive function.

Such evidence begins to take energy work into 'believable' realms in today's society and with the decline in general health services, more and more people are having to turn to self-care methods and can feel more confident if Science is backing aspects of energy 'medicine'.

Energy is essential to our body, without it we would not exist. In The Eden Method developed by Donna Eden, we work with the 9 energy systems that Donna can actually see and identify in the body, to support optimum self-healing and health.

Energy work impacts all levels of our being, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. It can be a veritable treasure trove, an Aladdin's Cave of techniques but the 3 central main concepts are:

Energy needs to:

·       Move in the body

·       Have sufficient space to move in the body

·       Move in specific patterns

An ever increasingly toxic environment and our modern lifestyle, full of busy-ness, stress, time and social pressure and ‘collective fear’, can disrupt energy flows; the body develops bad energetic habits that can ultimately impact negatively the emotions and the physical body.

Bottom line is: whatever is apparently wrong with your physical or mental/emotional health, it will have it’s roots or be exacerbated by energies that have strayed from a healthy default mode and unless the energies are supported and nurtured by you, optimum health (on any level) will be elusive.

Energy Medicine (EM) is simple, organic, natural, easy, effective and has enormous potential and possibilities – you just need an open mind and a basic knowledge.

Donna was, and is, a pioneer in energy medicine, she developed her Daily Energy Routine (DER) as a way to maintain and enhance energy flow, health, and vitality. Here’s  how and why she developed it:

  • Among other things, Donna was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in her early 20s and was told by doctors that her condition was untreatable.

  • She  had a natural ability to see and feel energy. She turned to these abilities to heal herself.

  • Her recovery inspired her to explore energy techniques that could support long-term health and resilience.

  • Over decades, Donna refined techniques from various energy systems, such as meridian-based practices (from Chinese medicine), chakra work, and other healing traditions.

  • She observed patterns of energy imbalances in her clients and identified specific exercises to address common issues like stress, fatigue, and immune challenges.

  • Donna created the Daily Energy Routine as a short, easy-to-follow sequence to help anyone balance their energy, even without prior knowledge of energy medicine.

  • She focused on exercises that were effective, time-efficient, and universally beneficial, ensuring they could be integrated into busy lives.

  • As the Daily Energy Routine gained popularity, practitioners and participants reported consistent benefits, such as increased vitality, improved focus, and better stress management.

  • Feedback from thousands of people helped refine the routine further, ensuring it met diverse needs.

From personal experience, I have learnt not to dismiss the DER as a ‘beginner’s routine’ – Donna compiled it with pure wisdom as each individual element has a far deeper and more profound potential than one can originally realise.  Together they are possibly the most powerful self-healing tool you can hold in your hands. In our class later this month (January 2025) Donna, Debra Hurt and I will explore some of these deeper levels associated with the basic DER exercises.

The Daily Energy Routine – D.E.R. is freely available for everyone and really should be considered the first port of call in self-care – either healing a problem or maintaining optimal health. It's not rigid and retains a flexibility to suit YOU – cultivate curiosity and observation in your D.E.R.

·       Can you go faster, slower?

·       use different fingers/part of the hand?

·       Will a smile make a difference?

·       Will talking to the energies deepen the effect? (to your body you are the voice of the goddess: it hears, listens and reacts. That’s not just me, Science says so too!)

·       Is there a 'nuance' your body is seeking?

·       Are you breathing?

·       Do it all together in one go or stretched out over the day (use of post it notes)

·       How many times a day and how will it fit in easily into YOUR lifestyle?

CONSISTENCY builds cellular and energetic recall, habits are built, helping to return the body to a healthier, more functional default mode

Objectively observe how your body reacts encourages a subtle re-connection with your energies (sometimes not so subtle).

Making the D.E.R. part of your life could be the most important and literally ‘life-changing’ decision you make  - do it for 21 days, create the habit and you WILL see and feel the difference.

Try it, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

The Eden Method works with 9 key energy systems that influence physical, emotional, and spiritual health. and to explore them in more detail simply check out Donna Eden’s book ENERGY MEDICINE – it’s a great springboard into the world of energy.

  1. Meridians: These are energy pathways that run throughout the body, as recognized in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Each of the 14 meridians corresponds to specific emotions, organs and functions.

  2. Chakras: These spinning vortexes of energy align along the spine/torso and correspond to various physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects. There are seven primary chakras, and they play a role in energy exchange between the body and the environment.

  3. Aura: This is the electromagnetic field that surrounds the body, acting as a protective shield and reflecting one’s emotional and physical well-being. Maintaining a strong, balanced aura helps shield against external stressors. It has become particularly important with the dramatic growth of EMFs over the past 30 years.

  4. Electrics: These subtle electrical energies interface between the body’s energy systems and physical nervous system. Balancing the electrics helps align the physical body with energetic flows, enhancing vitality.

  5. Radiant Circuits: these energies bring harmony and can override stress responses. Unlike meridians, radiant circuits are not fixed pathways; they move where needed to spark happiness and healing. I think of them as the body's 'trouble-shooters' that help us adapt to change and challenges.

  6. Triple Warmer: This meridian governs the body's fight, flight, or freeze response. I tend to imagine it as the OUTER GATEKEEPER of the body, keeping us safe from external attack. It also oversees the immune system, stress management, and energy regulation. Calming Triple Warmer is central to stress relief.... so if you subscribe to the concept that 99.999% of what goes wrong with us is caused by or exacerbated by stress, then this is an important system to work with.

  7. Celtic Weave: This interconnecting energy web integrates all the body’s systems, weaving them together like an energetic fabric. Strengthening the Celtic Weave enhances coherence and energetic stability.

  8. Five Rhythms: Based on the five-element theory in Traditional Chinese Medicine (wood, fire, earth, metal, and water), these rhythms influence personality, behaviour, and organ health. Understanding one’s dominant rhythm aids in achieving balance.

  9. Basic Grid: This foundational energy system serves as the blueprint for the body’s energetic structure. When the grid is compromised, energy systems may weaken or become misaligned. Restoring the grid is essential for deep healing.

EEM uses techniques like tapping, tracing energy flows, holding points and energy testing to harmonize these systems, promoting a deep seated, more stable state of health and vitality.
