Many decades ago I came across a little book called THE GAME OF LIFE AND HOW TO PLAY IT written way back in the early part of the 20th century by a woman way ahead of her time called Florence Scovel Shinn.
That book changed my life and I'm grateful for the day it fell into my hands. It's wisdom is as relevant today as when she wrote it.
In 2004 I bought THE WISDOM OF FLORENCE SCOVEL SHINN which combines all four of her books - and I recommend it if you want to unleash the power of your spoken word (and thoughts).
In a world where words are constantly flowing, it's crucial to recognize the immense power they hold—especially when spoken with intention and belief.
As Dr Emoto demonstrated, each has a vibrational charge that is capable of changing the molecular structure of water - and we are 85% 'ish made up of water.
More recently Science has proved beyond doubt that our cell 'listen, hear and react' to our words and thoughts.
So our bodies definitely listen, but it goes way beyond that, into a realm of reality creation that seems to tap into our potential to attract to us people and situations that nurture our dreams, that can literally change our lives.
So perhaps it's time we paid more attention to what comes out of our mouths and spins around in our heads.
It's time to take care and be discerning
It's time to eliminate some words from your daily vocabulary
It's time to add others in
It's time to use your words as the 'magic wand' they can be
Women, throughout history, have harnessed the strength of their words to manifest positive change and cultivate empowerment. Let's do it for ourselves now.
At the core of Florence's teachings was the profound idea that our words shape our reality.
She emphasized that affirmations, when spoken with conviction and faith, act as powerful tools for manifesting our desires.
For women, Shinn's teachings offer a roadmap to navigate the challenges of daily life and the increasingly complex and chaotic challenges we face as a culture.
By choosing words that reflect strength, resilience, and self-worth, you can re-write your script, turn the page to a new chapter, where you yield the pen. Use your thoughts, the written and spoken word as a catalyst for positive change in your life.
Another luminary in the realm of self-help, Louise Hay, was hugely influenced by Shinn (see clip on button below or cut and paste: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C2fNJuEMePF/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link)
Hay continued the legacy of harnessing the spoken word for empowerment. Her renowned book, "You Can Heal Your Life," explores the deep connection between our thoughts, words, and overall well-being. Hay advocated for the transformative impact of positive affirmations, urging women to embrace self-love and cultivate a language that nurtures their inner selves.
Hay's teachings invite women to break free from the chains of self-doubt and negative self-talk. By adopting affirmations that promote self-acceptance, women can elevate their confidence and reshape their destinies.
The power of the spoken word, according to Hay, lies in its ability to not only shape our external reality but also to heal the wounds within.
Practical Steps for Women to Harness the Power of the Spoken Word:
Create Personal Affirmations: Craft affirmations that resonate with your goals and aspirations. Speak them aloud daily to reinforce positive beliefs.
Be Mindful of Self-Talk: Pay attention to your inner dialogue. Replace self-limiting thoughts with empowering statements that reflect your strength and capabilities.
Visualize and Speak Your Dreams: Envision your dreams and goals, and articulate them as if they are already happening. The spoken word, coupled with visualization, amplifies manifestation.
Surround Yourself with Positivity: Engage with uplifting content, literature, and communities that foster a positive environment. This influences the words you use and the energy you attract.
I have, in the past, been a 'news hound', it became almost an addiction to keep abreast of the news. However, I've now reformed, I've gone 'cold turkey' and do not listen to, or read, the mainstream news ..... it's not been easy to kick the habit and I still get tempted BUT I can feel my energies expand and grow in my little 'bubbleland' I've created, so I prefer to spend most of my time in that nurturing reality.
Be aware of the energy that the news carries.
Many years ago I studied with John Thie (Founder of Touch4Health) in Santa Monica and to this day I remember him telling us not to eat while watching the news, working or 'arguing' .... all that bad energy puts more strain on us to metabolise and process!
These two amazing women have left an indelible mark on the power of the spoken word, providing women with invaluable tools to shape their destinies. . The spoken word is a force of creation and healing, waiting to be harnessed by every woman on her journey toward empowerment.
Are you ready to unleash it? I highly recommend these two authors and particularly the above featured two books. If you would like to dive even deeper into the potential of this work ......
In mid June I will be doing a short online workshop featuring some practical ways I have developed over the decades that have helped and empowered me. I feel I'd now like to share them with anyone who feels it's time to step up and 'unleash' !
I'll let everyone know exact time and date via my May newsletter or check out my website under the 'Retreats and Classes' section.
