Unlock Vitality: stimulate the Kidney 27 Acupoint

One of the most powerful yet often overlooked acupoints is Kidney 27 (K27), located just below the collarbone on either side of the sternum. Known as the "Shufu" point, K27 is a gateway to revitalizing your body's energy, improving organ function, and enhancing overall wellness.

Donna Eden (The Eden Method) includes this point in her daily '4 thumps'.

If y you're not familiar with it, read this, try it and see if it makes a difference, if you can feel that walking through life is not so much 'pushing water uphill' but feet off the pedals and freewheeling downhill!

It's something I do every time I walk my dogs.

Kidney energy is our 'sacred reservoir' of pre-birth energy - K27 is called THE STOREHOUSE and is the highest point on the meridian itself. As it name implies, it has the ability to 'store' energy. It is at the same level as the Lung 1 point and there is a relationship between them that helps respiration.

Kidney sits in Water element which governs fear and working this point can bring a calming balance to the energies so there is no excessive fearfulness or fearlessness so our sacred reservoir is not depleted unnecessarily. If you have an ongoing 'issue' around feeling 'safe', trust, being overly cautious or lack of drive in life .... this could be a start point to resolving and balancing.

If you are feeling exhausted, lethargic, lacking any zest for life ..... start tapping!

If you are feeling isolated or lonely ... start tapping!

To find K27:

  1. Place your fingers on the top of your sternum (breastbone).

  2. Move your fingers about an inch outwards to either side, just below the collarbone.

  3. The slight indentations you feel are the Kidney 27 acupoints.

You are not going to be using needles, so relax around the location - the energetic spread is wider than a needlepoint.... you'll get it - it might even feel a bit tender.

Why do it?

Boosts Energy and Reduces Fatigue

K27 is renowned for its ability to unblock stagnant energy in the body.

Stimulating this point activates the flow of Qi (life force), providing a surge of vitality.

If you're feeling sluggish or fatigued, gently massaging or tapping K27 can re-energize you quickly.

It's associated with the eyes, so if you are tired, perhaps driving a long distance or at night, then (with one hand) stimulating the points will 'shoot' energy to the eyes - it's a temporary relief, but very welcome sometimes.

Supports Respiratory Health

This acupoint is closely connected to the respiratory system. Stimulating K27 can help ease symptoms of asthma, bronchitis, or general shortness of breath. It opens the chest, relaxes tight muscles, and promotes better airflow, making it particularly beneficial during colds or allergy season.

How to Stimulate Kidney 27

Tapping: Use your fingertips to tap the K27 points firmly for about 30 seconds to 1 minute. This method is excellent for quickly boosting energy.

Massaging: Apply gentle pressure to the points using your thumbs or fingertips, moving in circular motions for 1-2 minutes. This approach is ideal for relaxation and stress relief.

Incorporate Deep Breathing: While stimulating K27, take slow, deep breaths to enhance the calming effects and promote oxygen flow throughout the body.

AND REMEMBER! to your body you are the VOICE OF THE GODDESS, so talk to the points, ask them to flow freely

When could you do it?

  • Morning: Start your day with a quick K27 massage to awaken your energy.

  • Before Exercise: Enhance your breathing and physical performance by tapping K27. As I said above, I do it before I go on my daily walk with the dogs. Before doing any energy exercises, yoga, Pilates, gym workout, sport etc.,

  • During Stressful Moments: Use this technique to centre yourself and reduce anxiety.

  • Before Bed: Relax your body and mind with a gentle massage to prepare for restful sleep.
